The luxury cottage resort hotel conceptIn 2003 Tim Wilkens purchased the Calistoga Ranch Campground RV park with the intent to install factory-built, high quality cottages that are known under California law as “Park Trailers” This development was intended to be the Alumni retreat for Stanford and UC Berkley’s Alumni Association. The development was sold to a group which currently operates the Calistoga Ranch Resort which is managed by Auberge Resorts. The resort is highly successful with cottages renting for $845 - $4500 per night and the resort was recently sold for over USD$1,000,000 per key.
Mr. Wilkens went on and developed RiverPointe and the California Vacation Club also in Napa which became the first successful timeshare development in the Napa Valley. This concept has been duplicated at the Carneros Lodge, Sedona Pines and other similar resort developments. The current plan is to develop a series of these resorts in very desirable locations throughout California but to sell them under a condo hotel plan with the purchasers of the cottages leasing them back to the resort on a long term basis. |
